Spinal surgery abstracts show bias

When it comes to scanning the literature on spinal surgery, clinicians have been warned that journal abstracts are often biased, with key findings omitted and misreported.

And perhaps not surprisingly, industry-funded studies accounted for a high proportion of biased abstracts, according to the authors of a review of 40 journal articles on lumbar spinal surgery published over the last decade.
