Stem-cell doctor under coroner's spotlight

A WELL-KNOWN 'stem-cell doctor' is at the centre of an inquest into the death of a woman on whom he performed liposuction to gather stem cells to treat her dementia.

Dr Ralph Bright, a cosmetic physician who performs autologous stem-cell procedures at Macquarie Stem Cells clinic in Sydney, performed liposuction stem-cell therapy on Sheila Drysdale on the morning of 20 December 2013.

The procedure, considered experimental, involved extracting stem cells from the fat collected during liposuction, which was then readministered
