Take me home, country roads – I miss you
Having attended the Blue Mountains Music Festival earlier this year, I now have a far greater understanding of both the breadth of the folk music genre and the clumsy overgeneralisation of the quip.
There may have been an overabundance of hemp ponchos and earnest songs about travelling home in Katoomba that weekend, but that is where any homogeneity ended. Folk music is a broad church. Indeed, I reckon if folk music was a doctor, it would be a GP – a multi-instrumental generalist; happy solo, in a large group, or anywhere in between; and dealing with
