Vitiligo risk linked to eye colour: study
US researchers looked at almost 3000 people of European ancestry with vitiligo, finding the distribution of eye colour was different to the normal spread.
Among patients with vitiligo, 27% had blue-grey eyes, 43% had tan or brown eyes and 30% had green or hazel eyes, whereas 52% of Americans of European ancestry have blue-grey eyes, 22% have green or hazel eyes, and 27% have tan or brown eyes.
People with blue eyes were less likely to have vitiligo and people with brown eyes may be less likely to develop melanoma.
