Flushing disregarded by young Chinese drinkers

Researchers from the Chinese Ministry of Health teamed up with colleagues in the US and Japan to study how alcohol-related flushing was regarded by male and female Chinese university students.

Genetic predisposition to flushing is common in Asian populations, affecting about half of individuals compared to 3 to 12% of Caucasians, they said.

More than half the students in the study thought facial flushing while drinking had no importance.
