Menstruation lost in space

There are various options for astronauts who want to prevent menstrual bleeding during space missions but loss of bone density remains a problem, say scientists, who are now calling for more research into the effect of hormone treatments for these women.

A new paper in the journal npj Microgravity shows that although astronauts have the option of menstruating in space, the practicalities of doing so can be challenging.
