AHPRA will write to every doctor in Australia urging them to report dodgy cosmetic surgery following the release of its damning review of the industry.

The review was launched after a series of high-profile media investigations into cosmetic surgeons such as Dr Daniel Lanzer, who is now facing a class action from 500 patients alongside four of his former colleagues.

The patients have alleged they were left with lasting deformities, nerve pain and psychological trauma after undergoing face lifts, tummy tucks and Brazilian butt lifts.

Releasing the report, Medical Board of Australia chair Dr Anne Tonkin said there had been few complaints to the watchdog before the media exposés.
