Hospital boss resigns after 120 doctors back no-confidence vote

The resignation of Albury Wodonga Health chief Bill Appleby was announced on Wednesday.

The CEO of a troubled health service on the NSW-Victorian border has quit following months of turmoil.

The resignation of Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) CEO Bill Appleby comes just weeks after 120 doctors backed vote of no confidence in the executive management.

The doctors claimed that senior colleagues who had publicly opposed a $558 million redevelopment of the Albury hospital had been sacked or felt compelled to resign.

On Wednesday, the AWH board chair announced that Mr Appleby had resigned.
