Crazy Socks 4 Docs: Doctors encouraged to ’embrace vulnerabilty’

This year's campaign has focused on the mental health impacts of the global coronavirus pandemic

Doctors are being urged to embrace their own vulnerability on the front lines of COVID-19 during this year’s Crazy Socks 4 Docs day.

Founder Dr Geoff Toogood declared COVID-19 and mental illness the theme for this year’s edition of the campaign, which encourages social media users to post pictures of their loudest, brightest, and craziest socks to show solidarity with doctors in distress.

The Melbourne cardiologist, who created the annual event in 2017 following his own experience of serious depression and anxiety, told an online panel on Friday the pandemic had created unprecedented stresses on health workers.

But he called on doctors to view their vulnerability as a “strength, not a weakness”.
