Doctors have slammed a former RACGP presidential candidate for suggesting a suspected murderer may have been ‘goaded’ before killing his two-year-old son and himself.

Dr Julian Fidge, who secured 390 votes in the 2022 RACGP election, was commenting on a news article about the devastation of Dr Sophie Roome over the death of her son Rowan

Rowan and his father James Harrison were found dead in a suspected murder–suicide after Mr Harrison â€” who was under an interim apprehended domestic violence order — failed to return Rowan after an access visit on 19 May.

Dr Fidge shared the story on social media site X, formerly Twitter, with the comment: “What sort of treatment of this father caused him to commit these awful acts?
