GP begs college: ‘Please reduce my CPD fees’

The RACGP is facing pleas to ditch its fees for this year’s CPD program following widespread disruptions to medical education because of the coronavirus threat.
The Medical Board of Australia has already announced it is suspending its CPD requirements for 2020 due to the difficulties doctors face in attending educational events.
The move means doctors renewing their medical registration will not be audited for CPD compliance during 2020, possibly extending to 2021 depending on how long government social distancing restrictions remain in place.
But under current rules GPs are still required to sign up for either ACRRM or the RACGP’s CPD programs to ensure their patients remain eligible for VR-level Medicare rebates.
