GP facing domestic violence charges has ban lifted following Dr Pridgeon’s court win

A GP suspended under emergency powers after being charged with stalking and intimidating his ex-wife has been cleared to practise pending a formal hearing, with a tribunal citing the recent legal victory of Dr William Pridgeon.
Dr Pridgeon was suspended for three years while facing criminal charges for helping a mother take her children away from their father who had legal custody.
But the emergency suspension was thrown out last month after three appeal court judges declared emergency suspensions should generally be reserved “for only the most urgent of cases” to protect public health and safety.
That ruling was handed down just three days before another GP was due to be told whether his own appeal against his emergency suspension, imposed last year, would be lifted.
