GPs will ‘remain core’ to AstraZeneca vaccine rollout despite fears of collapsing demand
Practices have been told to expect more doses in coming weeks, along with revamped MBS items to reflect 'more complex' conversations around COVID-19 vaccines
The uncertain demand for COVID-19 vaccinations means GP practices who are currently “burning through” their AstraZeneca doses will able to increase their orders, health officials say.
GP practices have administered more than half of the 1.7 million vaccine doses given nationally (see graph below).
