Junior doctor donates $53,000 of his salary to charity in one year
Victoria-based Dr Henry Howard says his story has inspired other doctors to gift a percentage of their salaries too
An inspirational junior doctor who gifted tens of thousands of dollars of his salary to charity last year has vowed to continue donating for life.
Throughout 2021, Dr Henry Howard, then a first-year intern, donated 50% of his salary to Australian and international charities.
In a recent update, he revealed the total amount he donated during his “workathon” was an impressive $53,441.51.
Among the charities who benefited from his generosity were global poverty projects and local organisations including the Fred Hollows Foundation and Beyond Blue.
