Medical watchdog to review GP’s suspension over ‘promised’ laptop: UK

The UK medical watchdog has said it will review the suspension of a GP following a misunderstanding about a “promised” laptop, as Australian doctors add their voices to widespread outrage over the case.
As 6minutes reported last week, Manchester GP Dr Manjula Arora was suspended for one month after a medical tribunal found she had been “dishonest” when trying to secure a work laptop from her employer.
Dr Arora, who trained in India, had told the IT department at after-hours provider Mastercall Healthcare she had been “promised” a laptop.
This was based on her supervisor, also a doctor, writing in an email that he would “note your interest for when the next [laptop] rollout happens”.
