More than 100 GPs are two weeks away from ‘losing all access to Medicare’

AHPRA is urging them to update their registration status before June 16 cut-off
Frustrated GP

Time is running out for more than 100 GPs who are in danger of losing access to Medicare because they have yet to update their specialist status with AHPRA.

From 16 June, the federal Department of Health will determine if a GPs can access specialist-level rebates based on their registration status rather than relying on the RACGP and ACRRM for the information.

Last month, it emerged that there were still some 3500 doctors listed with general registration who were yet to complete the necessary forms to update their details.

AHPRA initially gave them a 21 May deadline to ensure their applications, which cost $209 each, were processed before the 16 June cut-off.
