Australian COVID-19 expert Professor Mary-Louise McLaws has shared an update on her health, nearly three weeks after her brain tumour diagnosis.

Professor McLaws, one of the country’s most respected epidemiologists and a regular COVID-19 media commentator, has been absent from the public spotlight since last month when she shared that a severe headache had led to her diagnosis.

On Tuesday she returned to Twitter to thank her well-wishers, announcing that her treatment was “well underway”.

“We are fortunate with our fabulous medical, nursing, cleaning and support groups,” she wrote.
