Scott Morrison leaves GPs in another fine mess

'Once again receptionists were left fielding calls from the dazed and confused,' writes Australian Doctor's editor Paul Smith
Prime Minister Scott Morrison
Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

It was a little difficult to identify his precise motivation. Perhaps it was the fear that 2.1 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine bought at some cost would end up in landfill if demand wasn’t given a prod.

But Scott Morrison’s unilateral declaration last week that the national rollout was being opened up to those under 40 unleashed a storm.

The RACGP says it knew nothing about the policy shift. Few in the national cabinet meeting that the Prime Minister had just left seemed to either.

So once again practice receptionists were left fielding calls the next morning from the dazed and confused wanting advice on what to do.
