Surgeons ‘angry’ over handling of second wave: survey

Surgeons are part of a “disgruntled minority” who are losing confidence in Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews’ handling of the pandemic as lockdowns continue to affect their practices, a poll shows.
A survey of 305 mainly Victorian and NSW front-line healthcare workers, including 162 doctors (74 GPs) has seen Mr Andrews’ satisfaction rating fall from 86% in April to 58% in late August.
While support for Mr Andrews has dropped since the second wave of COVID-19 hit, doctors still have faith in the state’s Chief Medical Officer Professor Brett Sutton, whose approval rating is 74%.
Three-quarters of the healthcare workers surveyed believe poor management of hotel quarantine is primarily responsible for the second outbreak.
