Variety may be the spice of a better GP life, says award winner

Associate Professor Jill Benson from SA has been named the inaugural recipient of a RACGP scholarship established in honour of former college president Dr Harry Nespolon, who died a year ago this week.

The RACGP Foundation Harry Nespolon Research Grant, worth up to $60,000, was established in March to commemorate his life that was cut short by pancreatic cancer on 27 July last year.

The grant supports research into GP wellbeing, a nod to his passion for ensuring doctors have care and support to lead healthy and balanced lives.

Professor Benson says the grant will fund research into how career diversity can help prevent GP burnout. It will be based on a survey sent to college members.
