WHO says coronavirus threat is ‘worse than terrorism’

A vaccine against the novel coronavirus could be up to a year and a half away, according to the WHO, which has dramatically escalated warnings as deaths in China surpass 1000.
The WHO director-general is urging the world to wake up to the virus’ threat, which he says is worse than terrorism, dubbing it “public enemy number one”.
“A virus can have more powerful consequences than any terrorist action,” WHO chief Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a news conference in Geneva on Tuesday.
“If the world doesn’t want to wake up and consider this enemy virus as public enemy number one, I don’t think we will learn from our lessons,” he added.
