‘You are covered’: MDO reassures GPs over AstraZeneca vaccine

ATAGI’s declaration that there is a “likely causal link” between AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine and thrombosis with thrombocytopenia threw Australia’s vaccination campaign into disarray last week.
Minister for Health Greg Hunt was quick to assure doctors that the government’s indemnity deals with vaccine manufacturers also protected them from lawsuits if patients experienced an adverse event.
If anything this seemed to increase the confusion.
But Georgie Haysom, head of research, education and advocacy at Avant, says GPs can be reassured.
