In my last post, I gave some non-textbook definitions of different public health strategies to fight COVID-19.

In this post, I will use these definitions to describe the current situation in Australia and weigh in on what Australia’s strategy should be.

It has been reported that sequencing data show all current cases of COVID-19 in Australia stem from cases imported through breaches in Victorian hotel quarantine, although this remains to be publicly confirmed.

If true, Australia had successfully pursued an aggressive suppression strategy, with eradication of all community transmission of SARS-CoV-2 before it was reintroduced from breaches in hotel quarantine.
