COVID-19: Hospital staff ‘need N95 or higher respirators’

Australian biosecurity researchers are calling for international consensus on respiratory protection for frontline health professionals in hospitals treating patients with COVID-19.

In an invited editorial in the International Journal of Nursing, Professor Raina MacIntyre and colleagues from UNSW Sydney say properly fitted N95 respirators, or the equivalent, should be the protection of choice for such staff, but failing that, they should wear surgical masks.
