Another Sydney detox clinic doctor found guilty

ANOTHER doctor at a controversial Sydney detox clinic has been sanctioned for conduct breaches after a patient was discharged with aspiration pneumonia.

The ruling follows the deregistration of Ross Colquhoun, the psychologist owner of the now-defunct Psych ‘n’ Soul clinic, which offered rapid opiate detoxification (ROD) treatment, using naltrexone as a day procedure, for a fee of about $5000.

The NSW Medical Professional Standards Committee found Dr Naswrin Moin failed to comply with NSW Health guidelines on rapid detoxification from opioids and was also in breach of the clinic’s procedure manual.

Dr Moin, who worked on Saturdays at the clinic in 2008-10, was prosecuted over the case of a heroin and methadone user who had ROD treatment under her watch on 10 April, 2010.
