Doctors’ films get screening night
DOCTORS hoping to follow in the footsteps of former medico turned filmmaker George Miller will converge in Sydney next week for the 2011 instalment of the Cinematic Doctors Night.
The event, hosted by the AMA (NSW) Creative Doctors Network on 5 May, will bring together seven filmmakers from various medical professions for a night of short films straddling a variety of topics and styles.
Retired NSW GP Dr Frank Mcleod is one of the entrants in this year’s event. Two of his films will be shown on the night, one of which uses a combination of special effects to shrink a lighthouse, to enable a character to clean its windows more easily.
CDN chair Dr Tony Chu said former doctor and Mad Max creator George Miller had sadly been unable to attend this year’s event himself.
