Genital-rubbing GP stripped of licence

The Lockyer Valley GP, Nemalan Seshagiri Moodley, 44, was initially sentenced to four years’ jail when he pleaded guilty to nine offences in Ipswich District Court in December 2012.

He successfully appealed the sentence in the Queensland Court of Appeal last year and was released from prison after serving 12 months of the reduced three-year term.

The Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal last month accepted an application by the Medical Board of Australia for the cancellation of Moodley’s registration.

Moodley was a practising GP in the Lockyer Valley between 2003 and 2009. He was deported upon his release from prison.

Judge Alexander Horneman-Wren said all the allegations against Moodley involved him rubbing his genitals up against the female patients’ bodies while performing physical examinations on them.
