GPs give sick notes to avoid conflict

GPs DECLARE most patients with work-related injuries “unfit for work”, inadvertently delaying patient recovery and costing the workers’ compensation system more than necessary, according to a new study.

Despite strong evidence showing a fast return to work as the best path to recovery, the Monash University study shows in 70% of cases GPs certify injured workers as unfit.
