GSK stops direct payments to doctors, hires full-time experts
IN an Australian first, pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) will stop direct payments to doctors and instead employ full-time experts to speak on its behalf.
The change, from January 1, is billed as a bid to increase openness and put GSK at “arm’s length” on medical education.
It comes amid stricter rules on pharmaceutical company accountability.
