Millions of bottles of wine go missing as drinkers lose their memory

The English drink around 12 million more bottles of wine a week than they think they do, say researchers.

Results from their survey of more than 6000 randomly selected people highlights a huge difference between how much they remember drinking and how much alcohol is sold.

The survey asks about typical drinking patterns and what participants drink on holidays and special occasions.

But the researchers say recall of drinking on special occasions is a better way of measuring consumption.
