Cardiac surgeon loses legal battle over redundancy

A cardiac surgeon has lost a legal battle after losing his job in a restructure of the “dysfunctional” Cardiothoracic Unit at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.

In a case heard in the Federal Court, Mr Michael Rowland said he lost his job at the unit where he had worked for a decade after his relationship with the director, Professor Don Esmore, broke down.
