Melanoma case leads to cosmetic clinic warning
Cosmetic clinics are putting people at risk by lasering pigmented skin lesions without medical assessment, dermatologists warn.
In one case, a woman with an 18-month history of a growing pigmented lesion underwent laser removal without prior medical assessment.
When the lesion recurred a year later, it emerged that she had significant prior sun exposure and a family history of skin cancer.
Doctors duly diagnosed melanoma.
