Rethink on beta blockers after heart attack

A major study has raised doubts about beta blockers being routinely used as secondary prevention therapy for people who have survived an acute MI.

Use of beta blockers conferred no mortality benefit in people with acute MI who had no heart failure or left ventricular systolic dysfunction, according to an observational study involving almost 180,000 heart attack survivors in the UK.
