Researchers investigating what happens to patients after stroke have usually focused on disability, rehabilitation and the likelihood of recurrence.

Other sequelae, however, might be just as important to patient quality of life. These often hidden issues include social functioning, mental disorders, fatigue, pain and disordered sleep, say researchers at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, US.
