Doctors unite to take on detention secrecy rules

DOCTORS are taking up the fight against draconian secrecy provisions in the new Australian Border Force Act, saying they refuse to be silenced on health threats in immigration detention centres.

About 300 doctors, nurses and other health professionals turned out for a public protest against the legislation in Sydney on Saturday, standing in icy weather as they heard testimony from health workers who had witnessed conditions in the Nauru and Manus Island centres.
