Sickly cruise ship passengers are clogging GP clinics
GPs in a popular Western Australian tourist town are being pushed to the limit by cruise ship passengers who are refusing expensive onboard treatment.
While Broome's pearl diving and pristine wilderness makes it a hit with cruise ships, the first ports of call for visiting passengers are often the town's five GP clinics, says Lesley Parker, who manages the Broome Doctors Practice.
“When a ship comes in, there is almost no chance that anyone can get an appointment because it gets very full, very hectic,” she says.
