Chronic disease central to PCN role

Ms Bell, who started heading up APNA last month, said a primary care nurse’s role in preventing and managing the growing burden of chronic disease was going to be crucial.

“It’s going to be a central role of the primary care nurse to work with a lot of people with chronic disease risk factors or established chronic disease and get those people the best quality of life they can possibly have,” she said.

“This is where nurses in primary health care settings will really provide their value.”
