Dancing improves symptoms of stress in adolescent girls

Swedish researchers analysed data from more than 100 girls aged 13–18 who had repeat visits to the school nurse for psychosomatic symptoms, with 48 being randomised to twice-weekly 75-minute dance classes for eight months.

After eight months the self-rated health of the girls in the dance intervention group increased by 58% compared to 30% among controls and the better results continued at eight, 12 and 20 months.
