GPs treat patients in car park after clinic torched
IT was after midnight on Wednesday morning that Dr Andrew Cartwright got the call.
One of his patients — a security guard — had been on duty near his Townsville medical practice and smelled smoke. The security guard alerted Queensland emergency services, who passed on the message.
Just after 3am, Dr Cartwright stood on Bayswater Road and watched the Hyde Park Medical Centre burn.
“It’s been fairly traumatic,” he tells Medical Observer.
As the extent of the damage became clear on Wednesday morning, Dr Cartwright and his colleagues could be found in the clinic’s
