Once billed as the biggest single health reform since Medicare, the Health Care Home revolution now appears in serious trouble, with rumours that fewer than 2000 patients have signed up.
Speaking at the AMA conference in Canberra today, Federal Minister for Health Greg Hunt described the policy as an “interim step”.
Some 180 GP practices signed up to become Health Care Homes last year, receiving annual block payments from the government to fund care for patients with multiple chronic diseases.
