THE patient arrived at Ceduna District Hospital by ambulance on the afternoon of Friday 9 May 2014, presenting with lower abdominal pain over a longstanding hernia.
At the emergency department the RN was worried about his pain and low blood pressure. The on-call GP organised an urgent transfer to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
A Royal Flying Doctor Service flight was expected to land at 8pm but severe weather grounded it until 10 the next morning.
