Influvac suppliers concede advertising claims were false

THE suppliers of an influenza vaccine have conceded they made false and misleading claims about the product in advertising material.

EBOS group, suppliers of Influvac, along with manufacturer Abbott, said in a letter to doctors that their claims about the vaccine needle and adverse reactions could not be substantiated. The claims, made in an advertisement in an EBOS catalogue, stated “Influvac has a sharp needle to ease administration” and “fewer adverse reactions”.

EBOS and Abbott conceded the claims did not comply with the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct and have updated materials to comply with code requirements.
