Meeting to support work rights of senior doctors
SYDNEY doctors have been urged to put on a show of strength at a meeting to call for a ‘Senior Active’ registration category that would allow senior doctors to retain limited rights in retirement.
The Australian Doctors’ Fund has called the meeting for Sunday, 7 August, and president Stephen Milgate said it was open to any doctors concerned about the effect of registration laws on doctors considering “winding down” their practices.
“We want to show the major [political] parties that this is an issue doctors are worried about,” he said.
“This is not just a meeting for doctors who have already retired, but all doctors concerned about our senior colleagues being forced out of teaching and part-time practice by the narrow registration criteria under the national scheme.”
The meeting is scheduled for 10 am Sunday, 7 August, St George Leagues Club (Mahogany Room), Princes Highway, Kogarah,
