A nifty tip to help travellers with thyroxine tablets
THYROXINE tablets are supposed to be refrigerated, which can be tricky for travellers if the meds are buried in a suitcase. Dr Julie McMorrow suggests a solution involving just a few cents.
Ask the patient to bring along a zip-lock plastic bag (‘snack-size’ 15 x 9cm) when picking up the thyroxine.
Ask the pharmacist to adhere an extra prescription label onto the bag (the plastic doesn’t adhere easily if it has already been refrigerated).
Place the appropriate number of 20-tablet thyroxine sheets into the bag, and subsequently, upon arrival at each hotel, pop it straight into the bar
