Patient breaks doctor’s finger 'for waiting too long'
Justin Lowe, whose lawyer told the Geelong Magistrates’ Court yesterday her client was a “complex” person with “mental health and other issues”, broke the doctor’s finger and cut his lip during the assault after also threatening the receptionist at the Gateway Medical Clinic in Leopold, a suburb of Geelong.
The court was told Lowe, 35, repeatedly punched the doctor to the head and body, before being restrained by a passer-by and an off-duty police officer, the Geelong Advertiser reported today.
He pleaded guilty yesterday to recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault and using threatening words.
On 1 October last year, Lowe attended the Gateway Medical Clinic at 2.30pm for a medical appointment, police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable David Vanderpol said.
