SA Health loses fight to deny paraplegic doctor compensation
SA HEALTH has lost a three-year battle to deny workers compensation to a registrar who was left a paraplegic after an accident on his way to reassess a seriously ill patient.
Dr Henry Buckett suffered severe spinal injuries in the motorcycle crash on his way to Adelaide’s Flinders Medical Centre early on 6 June, 2012.
The neurosurgery registrar had been recalled at 7.30pm the night before to see the patient, who had a significant brain injury, and had not left the hospital until 11pm.
