Australia to help reduce Myanmar snakebite deaths
Australia is funding a three-year, $2.3 million project to help snakebite victims in Myanmar.
Care facilities will be upgraded and the quality and availability of antivenom will be improved in the project to be run by the University of Adelaide and antivenom producer bioCSL.
Myanmar’s annual death toll from snakebites is about 2000. In most cases, the victims live in rural areas where they don't have timely access to the appropriate antivenom. - AAP
