Raised from the ashes healing bodies and hearts, $9.2m complex unveiled
Temporarily lashed up between two trees outside the brand new multipurpose community and medical centre, the sign that somehow survived that now infamous day stands to inform patients their GP clinic has a new home, following the opening of the centre by Governor-General Quentin Bryce late last month.
Since losing both his home and practice in the fires, Dr Fraser has worked out of temporary facilities in the area while also working hard to bring the community back together and attract tourism back to the region to support the local economy through the now annual Marysville Marathon Festival.
“This was the opening of such a significant building [on the site] where we all sheltered on Black Saturday,” Dr Fraser told MO.
“As a community, we once again have everything we had and a little more.”
