Cardiovascular disease untreated in RA patients

Patients with rheumatoid arthritis have high rates untreated cardiovascular disease and it’s unclear whether the responsibility should fall to their rheumatologist or GP, Victorian researchers say.

Guidelines from the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) recommend that patients with RA have annual assessment of cardiovascular disease risk factors such as lipids, BP and blood glucose to reflect their high risk, notes Dr Alannah Quinlivan of the Department of Rheumatology at St. Vincent's Hospital
