College wary of PHNs steering chronic disease care

THE RACGP has dismissed a suggestion that Primary Health Networks (PHNs) lead primary care of chronic disease patients.

The recommendation is outlined in a controversial Grattan Institute report which accuses the profession of failing to manage chronic disease adequately, despite government outlays of more than $1 billion annually on chronic disease management plans and health assessments.
